ICM provides “an immediate response to basic human needs”
For our 60,000 total clients each year, this means
  • A food box
  • A change of clothes
  • Shampoo, soap and other toiletries
  • Utilities and prescription assistance when funds are available.
  • A sturdy pair of work boots or a uniform
  • Words of encouragemet
We recently expanded our services:
  • We are now open every Saturday – the only food bank in the Valley to do so.
  • We have a Jobs Program on-site to help those individuals who are “between jobs” or underemployed. This is a formal collaboration with St. Joseph the Worker, and funded by the Valley of the Sun United Way!

Some of our recent requests:

Eliza has four children under 15, and worked full-time long before her husband left the family. Her job a a manufacturing plant was downsized twice before the holidays, and then she was laid off in January. Eliza managed to get by until the end of the month, when she came to ICM for help. Her water had been shut off for a week, and a kind neighbor was letting her "borrow" water in buckets for use by the family. ICM paid the water bill, gave her additional funds towards the electric bill (it was still cold at that time) and some food and clothes for the children. Eliza told us that her biggest fear was that her daughters would be embarrassed by having to come to a food bank.

Jack had worked hard all his life in construction. But he was no longer working because of multiple surgeries for a bad back and knees. He was raising three grandchildren by himself, and had a disability income of $900 a month. Jack came to ICM as school started last fall, and needed school supplies and clothes for the children. He described it as being "down on his luck." ICM staff helped him with food and other basics, and helped him pick out clothing for his grandchildren. Jack has been back since, and tells staff he "prays for this place."
